My name is Michael Neely and I am a freelance writer, copywriter and marketing consultant specializing in sales and marketing. I write web content, sales letters, telephone scripts, Email Newsletters, print ads, white papers, case studies, company blogs, ezine articles, presentations, business plans, landing pages, ad copy, brochures, press releases, and just about anything else you can think of when it comes to business communications. I am available as a freelance writer or copywriter for your on-site or off-site work. I am available nationwide as well as locally in Atlanta, GA. I can connect with meetings either in person here in Atlanta, or via Skype or Google Hangouts if working outside of the Atlanta Area.
I am also a proud member of the Atlanta chapter of the American Marketing Association.
How I Got Started Writing
I began my writing career when I was in the fourth grade. I was friends with another aspiring writer who shared my love for history. Whenever we got the chance with a creative writing assignment, we would superimpose ourselves into the historical context about which we were writing as the leaders in our stories. They didn’t get a lot of press attention, but they did get a lot of laughs from the teachers and our classmates when we read them aloud. The teachers stopped letting us read our assignments aloud when they realized we enjoyed what we were doing.
I’m a lot taller than I was back then (and I dress nicer too), but my love for writing has never changed. I had to squelch that love at some parts of my life, for example, when I served in the U.S. Navy. There wasn’t much use for creative or purpose-driven writing as a nuclear mechanical operator aboard a fast-attack submarine. Upon my discharge, I discovered that writing skills were essential, and mine had not been exercised in some time. It was time to return to study as a writer and a communicator again.
When I Got Started Writing for Business
When I launched my first business in 2000, I realized that I needed this new thing called a web site. It had words on it, and either I had to employ a writer or create the words myself. Since I had no idea what I was doing and the start-up funds to match, I picked up my writing career again creating my own marketing collateral and my own web presence. I also created my own marketing collateral like business cards, brochures and even a PowerPoint presentation that I installed into my web site.
Since my first business, I have had many more learning experiences, including becoming entrenched in social media, continuing my education at a phenomenal pace, always learning, always changing with technology and always improving my results. By combining my love for business and writing, I finally found for a way to integrate these activities into a business. After years of searching and recognizing the possibilities of new technology, I now have a business model where I can serve the U.S. business community and help other business people improve their business results.
